About this guide
This is an independent guide to Luxor, the city on the Nile in southern Egypt, and to the temples, tombs and river trips around it. It is for anyone planning a visit: choosing where to stay, deciding which temples and tombs to see, working out how a Nile cruise or a dahabiya trip fits in, and knowing what to book before you go.
Nobody in the travel trade owns it
The guide isn’t owned, funded or run by a cruise company, a hotel or resort, a tour operator, a booking agent or any government office in Egypt. It sells nothing. You can’t book a room, a cabin or a tour here: links take you to the booking site, and any booking happens there.
Who is behind it
The guide is run by Adam Yong, founder of YS Feet. He is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has a computer science background and over 20 years in software engineering and digital growth. His work is in search: SEO and search data. He has travelled with his family, with young children, since 2013, and YS Feet began as their family trip journal.
For this guide, he chooses which places to cover from what people really search for, runs the system that stores every fact next to its source, and reviews every page before it goes live and again after launch.
Adam Yong has not been to Luxor: this guide is built from named sources, not from a trip.

How the site earns
Tour links on this guide go to Viator, GetYourGuide and Klook, which run affiliate programmes. If you book through one of those links, the site may receive a commission. Your price stays the same as if you had gone to the booking site on your own.
Commission has no say in what appears here. No tour, place to stay or place to eat is listed, ranked or dropped because of what it pays, and no business can pay to be listed or moved up the page.
What you won’t find here
- Trip stories: nobody from the site is said to have visited Luxor.
- Reviews written by the site.
- Made-up ratings. A rating appears only when it comes from a booking site or Google Maps, shown with the date it was read.
- Paid placements.
